Summer Time in Ivins and the Living is Busy...

Summer is here and we want to wish everyone a safe and happy America 250. Celebrations have been taking place all year and will continue throughout the remainder of 2026. If you missed Ivins America 250 celebration in May, you'll have another chance to celebrate during Heritage Days in September.

Some of the projects we've been working on include:

Annual Art Exhibit - Heritage Days - September 11 & 12th - Ivins City Hall

Ivins City Arts Commission Art Exhibit 9/11-9/12/26

We'd be thrilled to showcase your artwork! Simply scan the QR code above or fill out the online registration form on our website under the "Events" section for Heritage Days. Artists of all ages and skill levels, from beginners to professionals, are encouraged to participate. There will be student awards, as well as "People's Choice" and "Mayor's Choice" awards in the adult category. Your art doesn't have to be created this year to be eligible for the exhibit. The exhibit is open to all art mediums, (2D and 3D). If you're not an artist, please plan to visit the exhibit and enjoy the creativity of our Ivins community.

In addition to the Art Exhibit, an America 250 Trench Art Exhibit will be displayed in the City Hall foyer. Unfamiliar with Trench Art? Visit the exhibit for a combined history and art lesson.

Our America 250 Photo Collage will also be featured! Wondering what that is? If you visited the photo backdrop at the May event, you might be part of our event photo collage. If you didn't get a chance, don't worry— the photo backdrop will be available at Heritage Days too. Be sure to stop by and take a selfie to capture your "Freedom's Journey" Heritage Days experience.

It's a Wrap - America 250 Patriotic Utility Wrap Project

Also underway is a fund-raising event to place patriotic utility wraps on the Southern Utah Veteran's home campus. The Ivins City Arts Commission is working with SUVH through our "It's A Wrap" program. If you're an artist, check out our "Call for Art" also located here on our website. Read all the details carefully before you submit your art!

If you'd like to donate to a worthy cause, consider the Utah Nurses Scholarship for Veterans Care. Your donation will directly benefit patients here at the Southern Utah Veterans Home. Details for donating are below:

Your donation to UNSVC serves a dual purpose, benefiting two valuable programs with a single contribution. The SUVH will match public donations to UNSVC, helping to fund the patriotic utility box wraps at the SUVH campus.

Additionally, artists are invited to submit original 3-D artwork for the boxes. Please refer to our Call for Art on this website and ensure you thoroughly review all submission details. Art submissions are accepted by the 15th of each month until September 15, 2026. Each month, submissions will be juried until artwork is chosen for each box. The Call for Art is open to Ivins artists and those from the five-county service area of the Southern Utah Veterans Home, which includes Washington, Iron, Kane, Garfield, and Beaver Counties.

Other Projects

If that wasn't enough...

  • The Ivins Arts Districts Committee is gearing up for meaningful conversations with community representatives to explore public art in every district of the city.

  • Two public art exhibitions are planned for October 2026 and February 2027 with the assistance of the Utah Division of Arts and Museums.

  • Work continues on updating our Ivins Artist Registry - watch for an update email if you are an Ivins artist! If you're a performing artist or a writer, we will be adding those genres to our registry as well.

  • Art community collaborative workshops are in the works.

If you have an interest in art within our community, consider attending an Arts Commission meeting, volunteering for a public art initiative, acquiring a new skill by enrolling in a class with a local artist, visiting a nearby gallery, enhancing your home with art, or exploring the artistic beauty of nature on our trail system. Living Artfully is just a step or a phone call away...
