June 2026 It's A Wrap
Call for Art SUVH

American Flag Display

General Information

The City of Ivins invites Utah resident artists who live in Washington, Iron, Cane, Garfield or Beaver counties to create paintings, drawings, or graphic art to be used for public art wraps on five utility boxes located at the Southern Utah Veterans Home located in Ivins, Utah. The art images will be professionally printed and vinyl wrapped on the five utility boxes.

The artwork should contain elements of two themes:

  • Ivins Public Art Theme:  Out of the Desert

  • Southern Utah Veterans Home Theme:  Military Patriotism and History

The AI conceptual images below represent Southern Utah Veteran’s Home’s vision of these themes. Art may be wrapped from one to four sides and on top of any given utility box. Artists may submit art suitable for large boxes (H36” x W116”, H36” x W177”), small boxes (H30” x W90”, H24” x W116”, H26” x W24”), or both sizes. Number of images allowed for submission is not limited. Wording, slogans, etc. should only be used with prior approval of the Arts Commission.

Art will be juried by an Art Selection Committee, composed of the Ivins City Arts Commission and Southern Utah Veterans Home. A three-point preference will be given to all Ivins Artist submissions. (An Ivins artist is defined as an artist who is currently a resident of Ivins, maintains a studio in Ivins, or is represented by an art gallery in Ivins.) A two-point preference will be given to any art which includes representation of Utah’s Triple Deuce Artillery Unit or Navajo Code Talkers. A two-point preference will also be given to artists who are currently serving in the US military or are US Veterans. You may qualify for more than one preference group.

In addition to public art exposure for a minimum of five to seven years, plans are being developed for artist recognition in a digital format which would include artist bio and contact information.

Artist stipends will be paid at $500 per box via Ivins City Arts Commission RAP Tax funds.  If more than one work is chosen per box, the stipend will be allocated equally among the number of art works represented on the box. Stipends will be processed and issued at the culmination of the installation process.

Submission Timelines:

Artists may submit work during any or all of the following timelines. Some or all of the art may be chosen in each group progression. Should all art be chosen in an early submission group, the call will end.
